Data not suitable for release

Stats NZ periodically releases a report investigating the historical accuracy of its population projections (“How accurate are population estimates and projections”) – the latest report, from 2016, is available here: https://www.stats.govt.nz/methods/how-accurate-are-population-estimates-and-projections. Among other things, this report could help calibrate uncertainty and help local councils choose between low, medium and high projections. Stats NZ is not able to release csvs of all historical projections. There are a large number of historical projections and, as such, this would require a significant amount of work. However, Stats NZ is able to provide data from specific historical projections on request – requests can be directed to demography@stats.govt.nz.
