Numbers of Covid - 19 tests for surveillance purposes by region and date as well as the number of positive surveillance tests by region and date from when testing first began.

This data would provide a better idea of the real risk of transmission of Covid-19 for an individual in a community

Tēnā koe Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Ministry of Health (the Ministry) on 2 February 2022 for: “…the number of Covid - 19 tests for surveillance purposes by region and date. …the number of positive surveillance tests by region and date from when testing first began.” On 14 February 2022, you were informed by the Ministry through email correspondence that your request was too vague and were asked to provide further clarification. You were asked to clarify whether you were requesting border worker testing exclusively, or community testing too. On 16 February 2022, the Ministry contacted you to follow up on this clarification. As we have not received a response from you to date, we are unable to confidently or comprehensively respond to your request. Please note that section 12(2) of the Act requires that official information requested shall be specified with due particularity in order for the requirements of the Act to apply.
