A data-set that contains burglary/break-ins or other related activities within a street or a smaller boundary which may be a mashblock or certain area.

A data model that can provide precaution for residence for the safety concern, also, the data release would be make monitoring the crime trend in terms of location easier. There are some data on the web for the eastern suburbs of Auckland which is out of date (2010-2011).

    Dear Shaneel Nair,

I refer to your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request dated 5 March 2021 in which you requested the following: Hi could I please have the dataset for kuripaka cresent, the gardens and the area around it. Thanks

Police produces statistics based on defined Police and local boundaries and not by street addresses. Therefore, your request as it stands cannot be answered.

However, Police proactively releases statistics to the public that are updated monthly. These statistics can be viewed and downloaded online from policedata.nz. Please read the instructions on the summary page on how to use these reports.

For your specific request the ‘Victimisation Time and Place’ report will be the most useful. To access this data please do the following:
    • Go to policedata.nz and double click on the “Victimisation Time and Place” report
    • From the ‘Victimisation Time and Place’ report, select the tab labelled
    ‘Trends’
    • Select the time period you require by moving the “Select Time Period” slide
    • You will find the information you requested from the ‘Crime type’ and ‘Trend’ charts of the report
    • Under the ‘Crime type’ chart, select the ‘Unlawful Entry With Intent/Burglary, Break and Enter’ heading
    • Under the ‘Area Unit’ filter, select ‘Manurewa East.’
    • The “Crime type” and the “Trend” tables automatically updates when you highlight/select these specific occurrence categories
    • Finally, you can download detailed information about these data using the download icon at the bottom of the page and selecting “Data”.

Please note that as part of its commitment to openness and transparency, Police proactively releases some information and documents that may be of interest to the public. Therefore, an anonymised version of this response may be publicly released on the New Zealand Police website.

I trust this information is sufficient for your purposes. If you have any questions regarding this data, please feel free to contact data@police.govt.nz.

If you are not satisfied with the response to your request, you have the right under section 28(3) of the OIA to seek a review my decision by the Office of the Ombudsman.

    Yours sincerely,
    Simon Williams MSt (Cantab)
    Acting Director
    Evidence Based Policing Centre
