The Department of Conservation undertakes pesticide (poison) operations primarily on public conservation land for the purposes of biodiversity protection. The AHB undertakes more broad scale pest control across NZ as the body legally responsible for managing and implementing the National Pest Management Strategy for bovine tuberculosis.
The Department of Conservation website www.doc.govt.nz publishes pesticide summaries; regularly (every 4 months) updated lists of animal pest operations using vertebrate pesticides that occur on lands managed or administered by DOC, by region.
The areas are mapped using GIS and cover off all of the information requested above for DOC’s part. Other agencies’ poison operations are listed where they occur in part on public conservation land.
The link to follow for DOC poison information and mapping is: http://www.doc.govt.nz/conservation/threats-and-impacts/animal-pests/pesticide-summaries/
