New accepted ACC claims where the injury cause is coded as electrical current / electric shock, for claimants aged 0–4 years, by year of claim lodgement (ideally 2015–2025 or the most recent 10 years available). If possible, please include a breakdown by: age in single years (0, 1, 2, 3, 4), injury diagnosis type (e.g. burn, cardiac, other), location of injury (e.g. home), and whether the claim involved hospitalisation.
Better-targeted injury prevention messaging for parents of young children, and a publicly available reference dataset for other child safety organisations and researchers.
This data would help inform child safety and first aid education content, giving parents and caregivers an accurate, evidence-based picture of how common and how serious electrical injuries are for young children in New Zealand.
