We require an updated list of HPI facility nos. for pharmacies in New Zealand. This is so we can send electronic prescriptions to pharmacies. For example: today I phoned Unichem Cashel Pharmacy in Christchurch, which opened in 2018. The pharmacist hasn't got a clue what an HPI facility no. is. The pharmacist is unable to provide this to me over the phone. We are located in Palmerston North and this creates problems trying to get prescriptions to pharmacies when patients are travelling and not local. There are a number of pharmacies around New Zealand where HPI nos. are not automatically imported and updated in Medtech Evolution or Indici address books. The lack of availability of a downloadable list of HPI nos. for pharmacies needs to be urgently resolved - even if downloading it requires a secure login through Ministry of Health to acquire the list for GP Practices, specialists, Dentists, and Hospitals.
Not being able to send E-Prescriptions to a pharmacy. Reduces the amount of ink and printing and expense to practices having to print prescriptions to email through to pharmacies and reduce administration time and double-handling of prescriptions. Avoid problems for patients who use that pharmacy local by allowing local GPs to send prescriptions to that pharmacy electronically.
Keep GPs, Hospitals, and Specialists in NZ up-to-date with current pharmacies in operation in New Zealand and give patients flexibility to retrieve electronically sent prescriptions local to where they are at the time.
