The number of New Zealanders emigrating annually from 2022-2024 by age, occupation and skill level.
Understanding the likely economic and workforce impacts for New Zealand of current levels of emigration. Provision of this data, which I understand then becomes more widely available, will enable researchers, such as myself, to analyse the data and publish information. Availability of this data, and private sector research that occurs as a result, allows government agencies to leverage off the private sector research creating value to government and taxpayers.
Data about the occupation status of New Zealand emigrants is not currently published, so use of it is limited. It is likely that even government departments hesitate to pay for it in the current economic climate.
Conversely, data on the occupational status of immigrants to New Zealand is published, and is freely available.
