28 November 2024 Kia ora Your Official Information Act request, reference: GOV-036371 Thank you for your request which was received by ACC on 5 November 2024, asking for the following information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act): By Industry Code (ANZSIC), by the last 3 calendar years, by Claim Type Category, number of claims, average cost of claim, average days Return-to-Work in XLSX format The requested information can be found here: https://catalogue.data.govt.nz/dataset/gov-036371-return-to-work-data Please refer to the “notes” tab when interpreting the data provided. Tables 1 - 3 include claims with weekly compensation where the exit date is between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2023 and the claim received payment of between 1 and 365 days. Claims were not necessarily lodged within this period. Table 2 represents all costs to date (as of 12 November 2024) for those claims with weekly compensation counted in Table 1. Please note these claims may still be accruing costs. Table 3 denotes the average days of weekly compensation paid for those claims with weekly compensation counted in Table 1. New claims displayed in table 4 are counted where an accepted claim was lodged between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2023. A claim may be lodged immediately following an accident or at any later stage. Active claims represented in table 5 are counted where at least one payment was made by ACC between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2023. A claim was not necessarily lodged or had the accident occur within the time period. Please note: Tables 1 through 3 provide data for claims returning to work with less than or equal to 365 days. The method in which the data is extracted excludes claims that have moved into the long-term claims pool, which is weekly compensation paid for more the 365 days. This is the standard method for measuring return to work and what is used in ACC’s annual report. As this information may be of interest to other members of the public: ACC may publish a copy of this response on ACC’s website.
