Hi, Just wondered if it is possible to obtain a regional Energy End Use Database that EECA currently hosts by region or other geographic breakdown instead of the national database that is currently publicly available? This is just an enquiry at this point to determine what is available. We would follow-up with a more specific request if data was available.
We have had a request to investigate the regional/city based differences of sources of energy (i.e. electricity, fossil fuels (coal/gas/oil), biomass). This would include residential and industry.
Improving the geographic resolution to better understand the current energy make-up at a regional level and also to help understand the energy transition challenges at a regional level.
Request received
Our original energy end use database model has a regional breakdown. It is for the year 06/07. We can share this with you. The current model does not have a regional breakdown. We are investigating building regional splits into the model as a future enhancement. No work has been done yet. We do have some energy data at the regional level – please see https://www.eeca.govt.nz/insights/data-tools/regional-heat-demand-database/ We are in the process of updating this dataset with the North Island data – eta early June.
