Register of government data content standards

This register is the definitive list of agreed government data content standards in development or approved. Standards establish consistent ways for describing and recording data across agencies. Consistency ensures there's only one way of talking about each different piece of information, helping us to:

  • maximise the value of data
  • create a more complete view to inform government policy and investment decisions
  • enable information sharing, and reconciling the data faster and more efficiently.

Each standard covers a minimum compliance that needs to be met by all government agencies. Agencies should also take note of the preferred compliance (referred to in the full standard) and assess which meets their data needs.
